Founder of Bakealicious By Gabriela – Custom Cakes & Bakery in Sydney
When I was four years old, I told my mum I was going to have a cake shop one day.
Throughout my childhood she would always say: “Beat the egg whites and sugar until light and fluffy.” Most of the time, nothing happened.
But I kept trying.
I was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in the south of Chile, on a family farm where Sundays meant that my mum, aunties and grandmother Quichito had to cook for long tables filled with 20 or 30 family members. This meant homemade food, laughter, and sobremesa — staying at the table long after the meal had finished.
Food wasn’t just food in our home.
It was connection.
It was culture.
It was love.
And somehow, I always ended up in charge of dessert.
From Chile to Sydney — and Back to My Dream
Although I studied Economics and Management in Italy and later completed a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food in Australia, baking never left me.
I have always believed that real food matters.
At Bakealicious By Gabriela, we use:

• Free-range eggs
• Belgian chocolate
• Fresh fruit
• No packet mixes
• No artificial flavourings
• No unnecessary preservatives
Because when someone orders a custom cake in Sydney — for a wedding, birthday, engagement, baby shower or corporate event — it should taste as beautiful as it looks.
How Bakealicious Began
In 2016, I started Bakealicious from my home kitchen with very little money but a lot of passion and determination.
I personally door-knocked corporate offices in North Sydney with cake samples.
From there, the dream slowly grew:
• A small shopfront in Willoughby
• Then a larger bakery in Forestville
• Now delivering custom cakes across Sydney
Today, Bakealicious By Gabriela is known for luxury custom cakes in Sydney, wedding cakes, corporate branded cakes, gluten-free cakes and vegan cakes.
But I still oversee flavour development, quality control and the heart behind every cake that leaves our kitchen.

More Than a Cake Shop
Bakealicious is more than a boutique cake shop in Sydney.
After spending eight years volunteering at an orphanage in Chile, I saw how small acts of generosity can change lives.
My long-term goal is to grow Bakealicious enough that the business can financially support orphaned children in Chile and give back in a meaningful, sustainable way.
Every cake ordered contributes to that bigger vision.

Over the years, I’ve had the honour of baking for international artists, celebrities, appearing on Australian television and being featured in many food publications.
But what matters most is still the same thing:
"Seeing someone smile when they take their first bite."
