Wohoo🎉 we made it to 10K on Instagram – all organic, not one single paid follower!
Seems surreal to think I started Bakealicious in 2017 (swipe right) from my rented apartment in Wollstonecraft; with a big dream, lots of passion, commitment and hard work. Many of you met me there 🥰 and to think I have grown the business to 8 staff and 3 delivery vehicles is really amazing.
There were so so many times I thought to myself why do I do this?! Am I a masochist haha, but the reality is nothing great comes easy.Â
Every Friday and Saturday I would be in that shop baking, baking and baking while many were out partying or just enjoying a night out. But I did not break – I was determined to make this work. Mum came over from Chile when I opened my first retail shop in Middle Cove 2019. I remember every night when we finished, we would beg any restaurant that was still open if they could cook us a meal. We had been baking all day but needed some real food and were too exhausted to cook for ourselves🤣! Soon enough we had a reputation of arriving between 9-10pm every night, however they did wait for us thank goodness. I did not take one single holiday until January 2025 when I visited my parents who live in a farm in the south of Chile for 2 weeks.
This is the thing - I had to do the work, I had to show the Universe my commitment to making this work. I am proud to say that people are realizing more than ever the quality of our products and that I bake with my heart. It really does mean the world to me to create a special moment for you to remember forever.
In a world where quality gets jeopardized to save on costs, I made the commitment to myself, my brand and my customers I would never go done that route.
It has also been very important for me to be able to make Cakes that cater to everyone no matter the dietary requirement - Coeliac disease, a gluten or dairy intolerance, a nut allergy or Diabetes. And also for no one to miss out on cake for their special day or celebration no matter what social demographic they may be a part of. This is why my next dream is to give back to the community with my cakes. Something I am working on behind the scenes right now.
I think that’s enough of my entrepreneurial and busines story for now!
To all my amazing customers, followers, family and friends thank you for being part of my journey. A girl with a dream – to open a CAKE shop. Not just any cake shop, a legacy in the making.

Baking cakes is not just a hobby or work for me, it's a form of art that allows us to express our creativity in a delicious way. From choosing the perfect flavour combinations to decorating with intricate designs, the process of baking a cake is a true labour of love.
