Because I believe in using the best of ingredients, I source my passion fruit from Colombia. It comes frozen which allows me to have an authentic flavour with no additives or preservatives.
Passion fruit comes from the Granadilla plant which is native to the Andes Mountains of southern Brazil, northern Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia and Venezuela.
There are many different varieties of passion fruit. However, there are two main groups: Purple and Yellow. Although this is a tropical fruit it can adapt very well to other types of climate. SBS recently did an article on how to grow passion fruit in your backyard hence it being an Australian favourite. To read their article, visit: http://www.sbs.com.au/food/article/2012/09/06/how-grow-passionfruit
Passion fruit has a wide range of health benefits; one single passion fruit has 2 grams of fiber, it’s high in Vitamin C, Vitamin A and only contains 17 calories.
I use passion fruit in my Passion fruit Cheesecake and in the Naked Cake with Mascarpone Cream. These can both be made gluten-free. If you have a birthday, special occasion, anniversary or if it’s just a morning or afternoon tea these cakes are perfect. We hand deliver to most suburbs across Sydney like Mosman, Sydney CBD, Double Bay, Potts Point, Marrickville, Dee Why and many more.
I thank Fruta Foods Pty Ltd for importing and distributing real authentic fruits from South-America to Sydney.
